The Heath Press was born from a fascination with the way people, nature, and technology shape each other. Its founder, Wouter de Heij, grew up in the Flevopolder, one of the youngest parts of the Netherlands, reclaimed from the sea only a few years before his birth in 1973. Life there was defined by pioneering—new land being cultivated, communities taking root, and an ongoing dialogue between human ambition and natural forces. That spirit of curiosity and resilience has guided Wouter ever since.

From an early age, he was drawn to the question of how things work—why food spoils, how energy flows, what cycles connect the land beneath our feet with the atmosphere above. He went on to study Chemical Engineering at Delft University of Technology, where designing entire factories was not just an academic exercise but a way to imagine how science and industry could serve society. After university, he entered the world of research, working on new methods to keep food safe and fresh, and exploring technologies that could reduce waste and extend the reach of sustainable food systems.

Over the decades, Wouter co-founded companies and research initiatives dedicated to sustainability, alternative proteins, and food innovation. Yet alongside this entrepreneurial path, he kept writing. What started in 2006 as a personal blog grew into a broader effort to explore connections—between food and health, between nitrogen and phosphate cycles, between energy and climate. Writing became not only a way to share knowledge, but also to invite dialogue and encourage critical thinking in a world where facts are often drowned out by noise.

The Heath Press is the natural continuation of that journey. It brings together all of Wouter’s media activities—articles, essays, reflections, and commentary—under one umbrella. It is a place where readers can find fact-based reporting on food, energy, environment, and technology, written with both curiosity and clarity. The Heath Press is bilingual, publishing in Dutch and English, because these challenges and conversations are not confined to borders.

Beyond articles, The Heath Press also curates WhatsApp communities where readers, experts, and professionals can exchange insights and ideas in real time. The motto is simple: soft on people, hard on content. Respectful debate, grounded in facts, is the heart of this project.

At its core, The Heath Press is not just about information, but about perspective—seeing connections where others see fragments, and reminding ourselves that the way we produce food, manage energy, and care for our environment are all part of the same story. It is an invitation to think critically, to stay curious, and to imagine how innovation and responsibility can go hand in hand.

If you want to know more, or simply wish to join the conversation, reach out—by email, by phone, or by stepping into one of the communities. The Heath Press is here to share stories, spark ideas, and keep alive the pioneering spirit of building on new ground.
